Help For Multitasking
January 18th, 2005How many windows (or Firefox tabs) do you usually have open at one time? I average around 4 with my e-mail client kicking (blech!) in the background. Probably less than most of the population. I multitask, but not “that much”. For those that think that they are the king or queen of the 10 windows and 5 applications, take a look at an article entitled ‘Tasktracer’ Could Dramatically Aid Computer Users, from Science Daily:
“With the new TaskTracer system, which Herlocker and Dietterich designed to work with Microsoft Windows and other popular operating systems, the computer keeps an eye on your jobs at all times. It notes what spreadsheets you use, what e-mail is relevant, what Powerpoint presentations you were creating, what background materials might help, and what web pages or folders are involved.”
Just what I need. A computer butler. Read more about TaskTracer:
“TaskTracer serves its users as a loyal assistant which silently observes what they are doing and, if they are in hesitation, suggests them the optimal way to proceed. After every interruption it gently reminds users what they were previously working on. It also can inform the users (e.g., by showing the last few completed actions in detail) exactly where in the process of a task they had been when they were interrupted.”
