IngentaConnect Power Tools

November 19th, 2004

Ingenta has released 4 bookmarklets as part of a page they are calling Power Tools. The bookmarklets are as follows:

Search IngentaConnect - Add the link above to your toolbar and you can highlight text on any web page, click on the link in your browser and a search will be executed across titles, keywords and abstracts on IngentaConnect using the word(s) you have highlighted.

Author Search - As above but allows you to highlight an author’s last name on any web page then click the link to run an author search on IngentaConnect.

Google Scholar Highlighter
- If you use Google Scholar, this bookmarklet will highlight the citations in your search results which have full text on IngentaConnect. Run your search and then click on the toolbar link to highlight the IngentaConnect results.

Search IngentaConnect via Google Scholar
- Use Google Scholar to search IngentaConnect. Highlight words on any web page and click the link, or enter words into the pop-up box. Your search will be executed on Google but the results will be limited to those available on IngentaConnect.

They are looking for some feedback, so send any comments/questions to betatest [at] ingenta [dot] com. I’ve tested out the first two and they work great. I haven’t even had time to play with the Google Scholar (although I did throw my name and it came back with my book and something that was in Library Juice back in 2001, which makes little sense), let alone these bookmarklets so I can’t attest to their usefulness. Anyone want to take these for a spin?
