Hell, You’re a Librarian

I’m reading The Time Traveler’s Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger at the request of my wife. Great book, so far. I just came across this quote. It is said to the main character, Henry, from Mia, a waitress (whom Henry has slept with a few times). Mia has just asked him to meet her folks for a Christmas dinner and answer to the name Rafe. Henry has declined:

Mia: “C’mon Henry. Help me out. You’re a respectable person of the male gender. Hell, you’re a librarian…”
