The library weblog dedicated to resources for keeping current and professional development

Yay and Yuck!!!

May 9th, 2004

My favorite tool to come out of the new Blogger upgrade is that each post creates a separate page. This is a feature that I have wanted for a long time in Blogger (it has long been a staple in MovableType, and you can create stories in Radio, which has separate pages). So, you’ll notice that my permalinks will bring you to a separate page for each post. Yay!!

They have also implemented a comments feature, which I will not utilize, because I can’t get an RSS (or ATOM) feed for them. They really need to implement that (or someone needs to write a quick hack). Or even an e-mail that someone has commented will do. Plus, the comments are hosted at Blogger.com, even for “externally-published blogs”. Yuck!!!

I also created a profile, which is a great way for librarians who use Blogger to market themselves. Maybe include a list of articles, presentations, etc. I have to work on mine a bit more, but you get the idea. Props to Blogger for including IM accounts in the profile. Smart move. Also, within the profile, I have checked “Museum/Libraries” as my industry. So, here’s the current list, which should grow within the next few days. I would love a feed for new entries to this industry section.
