More library weblog presentations
May 1st, 2004Amanda Etches-Johnson, whom I have always admired (and finally met at OLA in January - although no time for a cup of coffee) mentions that she did her own presentation on weblogs and libraries today. She mentions something important:
“…[P]art of the half hour was spent getting everyone to “roll their own”…on blogspot. It’s a good thing to do, I think, especially since it’s so difficult to encapsulate everything a blog is (and does) with a mere definition. So much easier for your audience “get” blogging by, well, blogging!”
You bet. Get ‘em started right then and there. Have the attendees take a weblog home with them. This is the main reason why Jenny and I like to do our hands on presentations. It’s one thing to rattle on and on about weblogs. It’s another thing to have the audience see the technology in action in front of their noses.
Hee. I like that. “Take a weblog home”. That reminds me of a bowling team that I was part of in junior high called “Have a Ball”. At the end of the season, we received a bowling ball…
