Christina’s BloggerCon Rant and more
April 19th, 2004Christina attended the BloggerCon session on librarianship and has a recap.
I was however, more impressed with her article [PDF] on weblog searching that appears in the current issue of b/ite. She has some interesting ways to search blog content in the major engines, like using the term “archives” within a URL search (like this. One of the tricks that I often relay to conference attendees is to try to search “powered by” (like “powered by Blogger” or “powered by Movabletype”) with a search string as this will bring up weblogs from Blogger (if the blogger kept that part in) and Movabletype (again, if the blogger kept it in). These are are not sure-fire methods as other weblogs will be missing from the results. Just for kicks though, users can also try putting the term “blogspot” in the URL…
That all said, the best way to search for weblogs with weblog-based engines, like Feedster and Blogdigger, two among many.
