Job Search Blogs
April 13th, 2004I’m always advocating for librarians to show off their talents, career development issues, and, most importantly, any articles, presentations, and other resume builders on their weblogs. In fact, I did a little presentation on the topic at OLA last year.
So, this afternoon, I was excited to come across (via Michael Fagan’s Del.icio.us page), a free service that provides blogs for job searchers called Job Search Blogs. From a post:
“Blog about your job search. Job Search Blogs are free blog web sites for job seekers. You can use these sites to record information about your job search. You can use a Job Search Blog as a showcase for you skills and experience - don’t just show prospective employers your resume, show them your blog!”.
It looks like the services uses MovableType, and the blog runs on their server (which could be bad if they decide to take it down). Using their signup form, you can request that a blog be created for you. I see one potential benefit for the future in using this service: Potential employers can access the site to search for prospective employees. Maybe this service and RSS Jobs can work together somehow. Who knows….
