Introduction to Blogs and Blogging
April 9th, 2004We’ve practically run the gamut of “intro to blogs” articles (and I rarely link to them anymore), but this one is interesting due to the class blogs aspect:
“Why a class blog? Well, return in your imagination to parent-teacher nights before cyberspace. Teachers took care to ensure that every child had some example of work posted on the classroom walls. Since blogs allow the use of .jpeg files, teachers can have a daily classroom bulletin board with samples of art or writing from students. Parents can access the blog from home or work to see what their student might be doing. Teachers can use the blog to inform the class about scheduled activities or exercises for the week.”
Also, as Amanda has pointed out, there aren’t that many school libraries blogging out there. (Pat Delaney is the most obvious, and probably the most consistent). I wonder why more school libraries aren’t taking the lead in blogging in their schools? Oh, and if you know of any more school libraries that are not listed on Amanda’s List, give her a shout.
