While Blake Gently Weeps…

April 8th, 2004

Blake is wondering why his LISnews feeds aren’t on the “most popular feeds” lists he is looking at:

“I was poking around looking for ways to spice up LISFeeds and I noticed LISNews absent from all the “most popular feeds” lists I ran across. We don’t show up on any of the most popular RSS feeds lists, which is kind of odd, since we were really way ahead of the curve on the whole RSS thing, and our RSS feeds are all hit like crazy. I can also say that our feeds are hit more than other sites that are on many of those lists. Why we aren’t one of the cool kids I don’t know; story of my life.”

I shot off an IM to Mr. Carver this afternoon with a one-word response: Marketing!! Take a look at LISNews. Where is the nice little orange xml button we RSS people are so used to seeing? Can’t find it? That’s because it’s not on there. Instead, he uses an itty-bitty link on the left hand side that says “XML/RSS” in a pretty small font. The feeds aren’t on any lists (and I’m not sure which lists he is looking at) because users can’t find the feeds buddy.

Also, the crowd that reads LISnews are so far behind in technology that they don’t know (or probably don’t care) what RSS is anyway. I’m just kidding buddy, we love ya!! Keep that chin up. And fix LISFeeds when you get the chance. I miss my baby!!!
