Waypath Refs
April 1st, 2004Waypath, another site that I like to call “The Little Engine That Could” (along with Blogdigger) announced today that they have created a new Waypath References. Basically, it’s the same concept as Technorati, in that you put in a URL and you’ll get a list of weblogs that linked to that weblog within the past 30 days.
Note: While this may be a neat service, check out this quote form the weblog post:
“Pace Yourselves: To help ease the burden on our servers, we’ve come up with a rationing system for controlling load. Please limit your use of Refs to the day of the month whose number corresponds to the alphabetic ordinal of the first letter of your last name (A on the 1st, B on the 2nd, etc.). That’s bad news for you, Jeremy Zawodny, but hey, John Battelle, you’re up next!”
The guys at Waypath are very tongue-in-cheek, and this may just be their way of being, well, “tongue-in-cheeky”, but the service may be an April Fools joke. I highly doubt it, but it is possible.
