Yet another article on and introduction to Weblogs and RSS
January 2nd, 2004Don’t let the title deceive you. I love articles about RSS and weblogs. This one has nice twist about using RSS in the classroom. I think that there is still a need to introduce our profession to the basic concepts of the technology, but there has to be a time when we need to go beyond Weblogs/RSS 101. Jenny and I are going to be doing a preconference at CIL this year entitled “Weblogs/RSS 101″ and we are very excited about that, but I wonder when the time will come to move on to the next step? Do we do it until nobody signs up for the classes anymore? Or do we take the plunge earlier, and suffer the possibility of leaving potential new users behind? Or (and this just came to mind) should we expand our RSS minds with advanced classes while continuing to offer 101? I don’t know the theories behind teaching technology to end users (I probably should be reading some of that), but maybe my buddy can offer some suggestions.
